1 1/2 cups butter, softened
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
1 1/4 cups packed brown sugar
1 Tbsp vanilla
2 eggs
4 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 bag (24oz) semi sweet chocolate chips (4 cups)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl, beat butter, sugars, vanilla, and eggs on medium speed or with a spoon till light and fluffy.
Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt (dough will be stiff).
Stir in chocolate chips.
On an ungreased cookie sheet, use a tablespoon to spoon dough mixture 2 inches apart and flatten slightly.
Bake for 11-13 minutes or until light brown (centers will be soft).
Allow to cool for 1-2 minutes before removing from the tray to a cooling rack.
Makes about 6 dozen cookies.
Note: I usually halve this recipe, bake 1 dozen cookies, and freeze the remaining dough in 2 batches for future use.
