…but I’m not home! I had someone ask me recently when I will be updating this blog again so I thought I would post publicly that I have no immediate plans to work on this blog. My time is being spent on Our Bella Cucina so if you want to see what I’m working on these days, then head on over there! :)

Friday, September 11, 2009Josh’s first day of preschool!

By Sarah - No Comments »

Today was Josh and Blankie’s first day at preschool. He is starting out in the Kangaroos class for 2 year olds and it’s one morning a week for 2 hours with a parent attending as well.

Josh’s “pengin packpack”. He chose the bag himself online and was very excited when it came in the mail!

Josh’s teacher, Mrs Mim. She has been teaching at this preschool for 21 years!

Josh is quite fond of Mrs Mim even though he’s only just met her. As we were leaving the school today and driving past the playground he kept waving and saying “Bye bye Mrs Mim!” over and over.

Playing outside is the last thing they do in the morning and kids leave after that. Josh was the last one out of there because he really didn’t want to leave. In the end he helped Mrs Mim put the toys away in the shed before I managed to get him out the gate.

My bubba Dosh is growing up! :(

His new school clothes are huge, but the next size down is kinda small, so we’re in that awkward in between stage!

For a Lego addict, was there any other choice for a backpack?

How did my baby boy get so big? :(

Wednesday, June 10, 2009Adam and Blankie’s First Trip to the Dentist!

By Sarah - No Comments »

Today we went to the dentist and Adam did alot better than we expected. They showed him the special chair and let him press the buttons that made it go up and down, gave him a pair of sunglasses so that the light wouldn’t be too bright for his eyes, and he actually let the nurse (pictured) count his teeth with the little mirror and “tooth counter”. The nurse asked if Adam wanted her to make his teeth all shiny and he said yes, but when he heard the noises from the cleaning tools he got scared and changed his mind. Then Dr Jim came in and told Adam that if he could count Adam’s teeth again then he could pick 3 toys from the toy box. Adam was definitely on for that, so he let his teeth be “counted” again while the doctor visually checked for any problems and then we were done. Adam picked his toys on the way out (a small plane and 2 pencils with little tooth pictures all over them) and we left. They said his teeth were fine and he did well for a first visit. They don’t like to push children to get their teeth cleaned on the first visit if they don’t want to because they try to develop a positive relationship with the child and usually by the time they’ve had 3 visits (1 visit every 6 months), a child will let them clean and examine properly.

Adam was told beforehand that if he behaved at the “mouth doctor” then he could get a treat at Starbucks afterward. So he got his strawberries and cream frappuccino and a slice of cake.

Tuesday, June 9, 2009The Adam Terror Alert System

By Sarah - 3 Comments »

I am at my wit’s end with the boys lately so I have decided to take a leaf out of my friend Tiburon’s discipline notebook and create the Adam Terror Alert System. This is attached to my fridge:

We start the day on terror level green and with each instance of misbehaviour, he loses a card and the punishments increase.

Green = good boy
White = warning
Yellow = 5 minute timeout
Orange = 10 minute timeout
Red = 30 minute timeout
Black (well, navy blue because I couldn’t find my black cardstock!) = you go to your room for the rest of the day with breaks only for meals and to go potty.

We’ll see how this goes!

Thursday, June 4, 2009“Tell me about baby Adam!”

By Sarah - No Comments »

Lately Adam has been very curious about what he was like as a baby. Today he came to me once again and said “Tell me about baby Adam!” So I went through the same info I usually do about him kicking in my tummy, the doctor getting him out, having his milk in a bottle, playing with his toys on the play mat, taking naps etc etc. His response today was “Maybe when I grow up big, I can get little and be in your tummy again.”

Uh, no.

Friday, May 29, 2009An Open Letter

By Sarah - 1 Comment »

To: The old guy sitting at the table next to us at dinner tonight.

Was it really necessary to sit with your circle of old lady friends right next to us and proceed to fart your way through our meal? Seriously, the restaurant was almost empty, you could have at least sat across the room if you really had to add your gaseous aroma to the dining experience. Or here’s a novel concept - make an excuse to go to the bathroom or outside for a moment to relieve yourself of whatever died up your ass to cause such a stench.

Sincerely,
The woman with the misbehaving children whose crab cakes you ruined.
